Chez Le Pres ….. A Brief Diary ….. Day Six, Wednesday

Chez Le Pres

A Brief Diary

Day Six, Wednesday

It has been a gloriously sunny day all day.

The sun rose across the valley, and orchard …..

….. and gradually crept around the church to light the frosty garden.

It has stayed sunny all day: what a contrast to yesterday, and how different it feels with sunlight … It brought out twittering birds!

We visited friends around the village. This lady of 89, now a widow, has a little tourterelle to keep her company. It sings and dances around a large cage. It’s a beautiful bird, although I am not sure how I feel about its incarceration.

The sky was astonishingly blue as we rounded the church to return home.

This afternoon, we set to outside, Dom in the orchard, me in the garden, cutting out brambles and pruning trees and shrubs. At last I am taking the bull by the horns and cutting back…something I have not been very good at over the years!

Next time I must rebuild he compost heaps! They were so efficient up until a few years back, when I didn’t come here very often and let things slide…not good!

This intrepid critter is going to feel the chill tonight!

I love this time of evening as the sun casts long shadows across the grass.

We watched the sun sink below the horizon, before going inside and packing to return to Crystal Palace. How time flies!

That was a good day; and after the packing, a lazy evening of TV.

Thank you Karen, it is lovely, always captivates us when we eventually get here. Today I got to grips with the garden too and felt so much better for it! Odette was the first person I got to know here, 20 odd years ago. We made crepe paper flowers for a village float together. :rose:
