Nuisance! ….. An Arbour tale
An Arbour tale
Sparkles went to bed, happy and comfy in the Citroȅn Van …..
….. unaware that behind her a stranger was preparing mischief! She slept well.
Her new twin friends slept well too, snug inside the cardboard travel-box, after giving Sparkles a cosy, orange cover.
During the night someone was very busy!
The twins, Trenet and Piaff, were wakened by a knocking and shouting noise!
“It’s coming from the Van!” shouted Piaff! “It sounds like Sparkles!”
“Why ever did you shut the roof on yourself?” said Trenet, as the twins lifted it off together.
“I didn’t, silly!” shouted Sparkles crossly. “Huh, I bet you did it for a joke!”
They gathered round and helped to move the van and its roof so that Sparkles could easily climb out, then they tidily closed the lid!
Poor Sparkles was shaking with fright. ”That wasn’t funny!” she shouted.
“I did it”, drawled a voice.
Over by the Travel Box sprawled a tall, white figure wearing sunglasses. None of the Teds had ever noticed him before.
“Who are you? What is your name?” asked Sparkles, very crossly.
The tall figure drew himself up to his full and considerable height and answered, “I don’t have a name, but many folks call me Nuisance”
The Twins stared at him, dumbfounded.
During the days that followed, they had long conversations with the tall critter and wary Teds, Sparkles being particularly miffed, tried to understand what motivated Nuisance, and why he behaved in the way that had given him such a name!
