going back in time

following on from my blast from the past blog  my wife and me went to our local history society film show the other night it featured many films  captured on camera from a couple of local chaps and put together on DVD

It really brought back memories from the past including the building of the M1 motorway in Northamptonshire including Watford gap and many other things that happened in or near our village

I remembered Les the local milkman delivering milk with his  horse milk float and other films of local  farms and how it was in the 1950’s and 60’s  the there was a man filmed standing on a hay rick and to my great surprise the man standing on the hay rick was my Dad and then on another farm film there I was jumping  onto a farm trailer in my short trousers

I have to say I was much fitter in those days I  don’t think I could jump up like that nowadays I used to look forward to riding down the fields on the trailer collecting bales of hay

that must have been taken at least 60 years ago when I was a young innocent fair haired boy in those days my hair has changed colour somewhat to since then

How fascinating for you Roly
You remind me of when a road was built through the woods at the back of our row of houses. The hardcore under the asphalt was thousands of pretty lumps and chunks of unmoulded glass in all shapes and colours. As children we collected some when no-one was looking  That was about the same time too :good: :rose:
