Hampton Court Flower Show … 2 … In the The Floral Marquee.

Hampton Court Flower Show … 2

The Floral Marquee

… but hang on a moment, because before we went inside we  had to negotiate a host of flower people made by various schools, most of which were very ingenious: here are a few …..

Oops! How did that one get there?!

Inside the tent I thought that it would be much like any other flower show …..

…  and at first, it seemed so, …..

… but then …..

…I love ferns, the way they curl and unfurl and those lovely strap ferns on the bank sides in Wales …..

… then … okay, these are pretty but still not for me!

… but after more beautiful displays [of which more pics later, ] we discovered this stand, and were bowled over by a display of fascinating Orchids …..

… here are a few …..

They were a bit mystic … look! Babies in cradles!

… fairy tale  woodland scenes …..

… where you creep under or through …..

… or look up and see magical colours peering down at you!

There were even flowers just hanging and growing in the air!

Those sumptuous orchids, all the way from France for the Hampton Court Show, really woke up mind to the beauty of this genus … Dom too I think.

I am not annorchid fan, either, (OH is) but there are certainly some stunners here :-) Those school displays are very inventive

I like most flowers and leaves Cilla, but was rarely drawn to the exotic and almost hard textures [plastic?] of orchids until that recent visit . Now, having seen those, I am converted to appreciating their beauty, variety and sheer inventive wonder of them. :rose:

  3. Loved the school efforts, Anne :good: not keen on orchids – never seem to be in the right place really but an interesting variety and display, all the same :-)

Nor are we orchid lovers normally Jane … but we were bowled over by the ones we saw at the show
I should have loved to :rose: look at the scarecrows again, as they were very ingenious, but time and blazing sunshine somewhat curtailed efforts!! :rose:

Thought the Flower People were terrific – but I think the last one ( while less fanciful) might be more useful in an actual garden. But possibly a red rose gripped between his teeth would be a good touch…..Do you think Dom would go for it?
