Evening all, busy day spent chopping and clearing tree branches from the conifers we felled a couple of weeks ago, such a glamorous life we live ;-)

Evening all, busy day in the garden, most the mess is gone now so hopefully tomorrow I can do something a bit more enjoyable. Have loads of bulbs to plant but need to get some grit/gravel to line the planting holes first so might have to wait till I next go shopping. :eyeroll:

    • Evening Ali, so glad you have got things back in order,I did feel sorry for you and your garden :-( but one thing us gardener’s and our gardens are know for is resilience. I have bags of Bublé to plant so must make a start. Hoping for a improvement in the weather. :good:

Evening all, thankfully we had a dry day so clearing up the mess has been the order of the day. Most of the water has receded but loads of leaves plastered on top of plants so had to get them off before they welded themselves onto them.
Lots more clearing up to do but at least we made a start on it. Fingers crossed the plants recover from being…[Read more]

Because we a little higher up we have had it easy in comparison, this is a picture of a cafe in our town courtesy of the BBC website, the whole high street has been flooded, not good for such a small community :disappointed:

Thank’s Dixon, hopefully it will drain away quickly. Better than some others have had, so counting ourselves lucky

Evening all, it has been monumentally wet. Woken up by the wind & to find the house surrounded by mini streams which rapidly turned into rivers. Garden badly flooded but thankfully the water didn’t manage to get into the house unlike some of the other unlucky people nearby. Had to go food shopping which involved several turn around’s and detours…

It missed us here Ali,We were sheltered by the mountains each side of the valley,But the river had reached its peak,The valley the other side of us caught it all. There were roads blocked and trains had to stop, That’s the worst we have had for a very long time.

    • Hopefully it’s going to be a bit better for everyone in different parts of Wales today – stay safe Ali ,Allan, and Walt and keep cosy.

    • So sorry you’ve caught this weather, Ali and it’s awful those worst affected. Stay safe :rose:

    • That isn’t good Ali and I hope it disappears soon. The weather patterns are really wierd nowadays. I hope it hasn’t damaged your lovely garden.

  • Thank you everyone, it’s Allan’s beans that are the winners :-)

  • I was beaten by 1.5 cm and the use of sticky tape :dunno:
But hey ho, as they say all is fair in love and war ;-)
Wow, 27 inches I would have to try a lot harder to get anywhere near that :-) :good:

Evening all, horrible night and day weather wise really quite nasty winds and constant rain since last night with another possible 160 mm forecast :bad:
Without power for about 4 hrs this morning, but thankful it came back so we have had a hot drink and cooked tea. I hope everyone else is safe & well

Fantastic shot Dix, very serene :good:

  • Last year I saved my runner bean seeds from Allan but they developed mould and had to be thrown away.

Allan @ronvalley kindly sent me a new batch in the post and these were sown rather later than usual due to […]

  • I usually do well with sugar snap peas but this year they have been an utter disaster
    wha wha wha :disappointed:

  • My triumph has to be the cauliflower. Another 3 harvested yesterday and another 6 ready in a few days, I will post my utter disaster tomorrow

  • Hard pruning usually encourages bigger but fewer blooms, we have a lot of shrub roses and we part prune in autumn to prevent wind damage and do the final harder pruning in February.
    Hope this helps
