@Beanstew Hi Sheila,,,I don’t see why it won’t grow up there with you,We had some 10 below temperatures here last winter, The name of the vine is ,Vitis Outdoor,

    • Thanks for that Allan, I shall read up on the needs of grape vines. Yours certainly looks impressive, and I’d like to try something new.

      • We made 12 pots of jam out of them last year,Jul Used a carton of pineapple juice with them, It was a jelly rather than jam,but it tasted really nice.

Morning clickers. We had a cooler walk at Bradgate yesterday. I made tomato soup yesterday afternoon. You won’t believe this Bean @beanstew but we had rain last evening….only 15 minutes of it but the rain dance sort of worked

    • I am repaid Cilla, by thoughts of you and OH prancing about on the lawn under cover of darkness (surely!), giving the raindance your best shot.

Robert sleeps under a bush outside most of the day, coming inside at intervals with a haunted look on his face, his coat is short and mostly white. Kitten, who is 13 with a thick coat, usually sleeps in a dark corner behind a chair and comes out round lunchtime to see if there is any food left in the bowls and then sleeps in various shady spots…[Read more]

    Requested by @beanstew
I can’t find where I got the recipe from that I use but the following gives the ingredients I use for two. Depending on whether or not I have enough lasagne sheets, it has either 2 or 3 layers of pasta.

    Ingredients:
    500g courgettes (approx)
Brown and/or white mushrooms – not sure of weight, so whatever you fancy
    Medium…

  • Morning clickers :-) an overcast start but hopefully it will brighten up. Lidl this morning. Then I will pot up a couple of sunflower seedlings that I sowed not long ago when Sheila @beanstew said they were still likely to flower :good: Have a lovely day everyone :-)

    • Good morning Jane. I noticed last night that one of my bent-stemmed sunflowers is in fact flowering with the flower pointing at the ground. Hope the bees notice because I nearly didn’t.

    • Morning Jane, get the shopping sorted soon and then you can play. ;-) I love potting stuff on, such a satisfying job. Enjoy :-)

    • Morning Jane. I noticed one of my sunflowers had its head broken off :-( There was a Lidl in Pickering but we never got round to visitiing it ;-) Enjoy your day :-)

Afternoon all. Did my errands first thing, vets etc., and then faffed until lunch time when I did bacon sandwiches (thanks for the idea Bean @beanstew). After a sit down and read we went off to Bradgate at 2. It was so cold, misty and drizzly that I insisted on tea and cake so we went to one of the 3 teashops in the village at the other end of…

I can’t possibly say “good” morning clickers as it hasn’t stopped raining since yesterday afternoon and my spirits are down in my boots :-( Has anyone got any decent weather? And where is Bean @beanstew? I hope she hasn’t caught the dreaded pox off that wee one. Yesterday morning was actually sunny and we went to Calke Abbey for a walk. We found…[Read more]

    • Morning Cilla :-) we put the heating back on in the lounge last night and it’s warm in here today – yesterday was awful :bad: It’s still raining and positively miserable. I have work in but it doesn’t really warm me up ;-) Hope Sheila is ok. She indicated she would be offline – we’ll have to wait and see. That walk sounds good if it isn’t muddy. I…[Read more]

      • Morning Jane. I don’t think the weather knows it should be springlike but it should be dry tomorrow, albeit not underfoot. The lawn is back to squelchy and I haven’t checked the greenhouse for days. Try and have a good day ;-)

    • Good morning Cilla … wherever you are about now :-)
We had spotlets of rain yesterday too, but nothing like what is going on further north. I hope you get some sun for tomorrow at least.
      Good luck :good: :rose:

Morning lovelies. Sunny and 12 degrees forecast for today then Jack frost is due to visit and tomorrow is 1 degree and snow! Mad weather :silly: But is of no bother – stocking up on chips, dips and beer for the rugby tomorrow and a lazy weekend all round after last week’s shenanigans ;-) Will see what I can get done outside but may just have…[Read more]

@beanstew What happened with The Tree, Sheila?

    • The tree has become a lesser being, Jane – ’tis but a shadow of it’s former self. and so is my clematis montana and goldenheart ivy which were colonising it excessively. The tree surgeon advises me that when my climbers grow back, they will slow down the tree’s regeneration. Hopefully, there will be more light now.
