The vendors left us a decrepit filthy old dishwasher. (Don’t need one, already married to one of them!) So today, as the space it occupies is just right for an under the counter freezer to replace the filthy decrepit old freezer they left behind, I was given the task of removing said Dishwasher (the one the vendors left that is). Great except that…[Read more]

    • Gordon Bennett Eric … we’ve all had awful experiences, but that is a cracker …. worth a book with nasty and nice fantasy characters and some magic in it don’t you think ? :shout: Good luck with tomorrow’s episodes and as one who is continually bruising and bashing her own sore limbs and fingers, I hope you heal quickly and feel better soon :…[Read more]

      • The joys of moving house Eric but another mountain conquered. I hope you have a better day today :rose:

    • Morning Eric :-) What can I say? Just hope today is a better day for you :fingers-crossed:

Glad some folks are having warmer weather than we are. We have had rain, sleet and snow so far today and very cold. Cat took one look out of the back door and went back to bed.
No gardening today so back to sorting out the book collection. Not enough bookshelves for them all here, so valuable, but not needed to be read ones are going into the…[Read more]

Not sure of the direction, but only 6 miles from our previous place so much the same climate except this is a bit higher so the frost sinks past us, hopefully.

It is sleeting here and rather cold too. Not much chance of working outside today, looking at the forecast. There are jobs to be getting on with inside though. Blood test at mid-day for over active Thyroid. Ordered by the Doc as I managed to lose a stone in weight. Not taken into account that we cut over 350 calories a day from my diet to get my…[Read more]

    • It’s lovely here so far today, after a dreich [to use a Scottish word] day yesterday Eric. Which area have you moved to, north or west?
Does look grim around Wales on the weather chart!!
Good luck with the doc :good: :rose:

Sadly the cooker is definitely defunct. We are going to have to rip out and have a new kitchen fitted, sooner than we had planned. This one is so old and badly designed.

    • I’ll wish for a good camping experience for you Eric, especially if the weather cheers up again :fingers-crossed: :-) :rose:

Settling in slowly. Taking advantage of the dry spell to have a go at the worst parts of the new garden. Going to take a lot of work to get it as we like it.
Cats have been out yesterday and today, not taken off for pastures old, yet. Jemma has only sniffed the breeze and retreated to the safety of under the cooker (which dies not work!).

    • Good to ‘see’ you Eric :good: Good luck with the dry spell … it collapsed in CP today and rained much of the morning. I’m happy to hear that the cats seem to be settling in … that’s always a worry when one moves. Hope you get your cooker sorted and meantime enjoy the new garden …. what an adventure to begin again  :-) Have fun :rose:

    • I’m glad you are in at last Eric and the cats are settling in. Not so good on the kitchen but at least it will be your choice. We shall look forward to your garden renovations. :rose:

    • Good to hear you’re in and at home, Eric :good: Don’t forget – Rome wasn’t built in a day! Good luck and take care :-)

Boxes to the left of them, boxes to the right of them. Boxes, boxes every where . Last day here. Last ever bath last night (shower only in new place). Going to be very naughty and take some garden stuff down this afternoon. No idea when we will be back on line so wish me luck and have a good day. :good:

And did I get any sympathy? Not likely.

The packing has begun and so has the bleeding!
Sliced my hand open, not badly, but inconvenient. Means I will have to leave it all to the Boss. Pity

Removal man came and worked out how much it is going to cost us. Not too bad, within the amount we had reckoned. 17 more days to go.

  • Owdboggy posted an update 1 month, 3 weeks ago

Hurrah! Letter arrived in the post with confirmation that we have exchanged contracts and are due to move on March 18th. Even managed to find a local Removal firm that can do it at such short notice. Also good that BT say they will deliver a Hub thing on that date and connect us a up on the 19th. so we should not be off line for too long.
    :good:

Contracts exchanged Moving date 18th. March. At last

  • Owdboggy posted an update 1 month, 3 weeks ago

Still have not managed to get a moving date for this house sale. All owing to the Solicitors not doing their jobs properly I must add.
And now with the stress and the change in the weather, my shingles damaged nerve in my side are screaming blue murder. :excruciating:

Crocus are very edible to mammals.
    Scilla are very poisonous indeed.
What other bulbs have you lost?
Molluscs can and do eat them off at ground level with no ill effects.

  • Owdboggy posted a new activity comment 1 month, 3 weeks ago

Actually Squirrels cannot eat Snowdrops as they are poisonous to mammals.

    • Well thank you for correcting me Eric :-) I didn’t know that. So now I wonder why my snowdrops, or any other tiny bulbs for that matter, have never survived in GG  ? :rose:

Don’t ever try selling your house and moving. It is the most stressful thing going.

There are indeed a lot of catkins on the trees round here, but it is not them which produce the nuts, it is the tiny (like 1mm across)red female flowers which are along the branches from the male catkins. Looking at our bushes there are actually very few flowers on them. Not looked at the ones along the road.

    • :good: Yes Eric, I haven’t noticed any red flowers yet, but it’ good to have the pollinators ready for when they come … the catkins are very pretty. We had nuts last year… all over the other side of the hedge of course! HAGE :rose:

    Wish it was fun!
Got an odd one at present. There is a pool of water in one of the sheds which can only have come from the ceiling. Yet there are no splits or anything in the roofing felt, cannot for the life of me see where it has come from.

  • Owdboggy posted an update 2 months ago

Dull and looks like rain. Not as warm as the forecast predicted by a long way.
Vine weevil hunting in the Auriculas is the days task. Bit boring but needs doing. Don’t want to take the nasty things with us, if we ever move.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far.

    • Have fun Eric  :-) :rose:
