Good morning all will not let me post in photo comp from my I pad so this is what I wrote “Good to see such a variety of photos, they are all winners in their own way. Looking forward to more in the coming days,”

Good Morning on this sad day for so many, raining hard now, how do the birds feed on these days, have not seen any about and I have sheltered feeding places.

    • HalloTubs, I have been wondering where all the birds are :dunno: they are few and far between at present, though maybe I am just not looking as often as usual. I still top up and clean the feeders but it goes slowly. :rose:

      • Hi Tubs and Anne. They are all in my garden….blackbirds, robins, magpies, wood pigeons, chaffinches, greenfinches, goldfinches, blue tits, long tailed tits, sparrows, starlings, gt.spotted woodpecker and stock doves. My sunflower hearts need replenishing most days and the suet balls are going quickly.

        • Well there’s lovely Cilla :-) I don’t blame them either. You have such a beautiful garden, and altho’ I am surprised that they don’t seem to be around in Tubs’ garden [I guess you just are not spotting ’em Tubs?] GG is such a wreck at the moment that I am grateful that at least the hellebores have come back and are tolerating it! :-) Have a…[Read more]

Take care, everything can be repaired in time but not human life,

Have just been watching video on the floods very distressing for those flooded. The depth of water in the shopping street is terrible. If these weather patterns are to be the norm a radical rethink of river managment will be needed perhaps. I just have ponds in the borders at the moment. So am thinking of all who are in trouble.

My enthusiasm has vanished as well. Its a stuggle getting around but hopeful the warm weather when it comes will help to lubricate those bits that find it hard to work properly.

Just goes to show there are more ways to do things in gardening and its more whatever suits than rules. I put mine in a bag in a warm cupboard where pipes go upstairs for the start,

When will you be starting your tomato seeds? Or perhaps already have.

    • With the wierd weather I have no enthusiasm for starting anything but they should be started now so thanks for the reminder. I must get on with those, beetroots and carrots next week.

    • I usually sow mine about the 3rd week in March, Tubs. I don’t have a heated propagator and just keep them in the lounge by the French door until they germinate.

So lucky to see owls remember hearing then when I was young but so many birds seen to have vanished hardly ever see green finches or chaffinches since they got that leg disease. Before that the garden was full of them.

Good morning all another amber warning for rain. My lawn is growing like made but too wet to get it cut. Looks as if might be dry nest week. Thinking of those people in danger areas we have a river at the back of houses at the end of the road but it at almost the start of the long river and the flood plane in on the other side, but part of the…[Read more]

    • Morning Tubs. Our lawn is just sodden and, as I have to walk on it to feed birds and get up to shed and greenhouse, it is likely to stay that way. I hope your river stays in place!

    • Morning Tubs :-) Hope you don’t get any flood problems. Take care :-)

These look so sweet and how kind to knit them for such a good idea, brings back memories of 57 years ago? Will have to check if there is anything like this in this area.

I was reading about gas being a thing of the past in homes in the next few years. They want us to be electric. I have refused a smart meter the computer is enough to handle, do not want a smart meter causing problems!!

Good Morning all this cold wet weather is not good, Still 57 years ago we were deep deep in snow and had been since boxing day, my son is that age on sunday.

    • Morning Tubs :-) My husband remembers very deep snow in Devon winters when he was a child. Brrrr!

  • A lovely lot of lovely photos already, it is going to be difficult to choose one. Such a diverse choice the title may be easier for the cameraman (and to me that term means male or female) but not the judge?

  • Lovely photos, what about Feb competition?

At the back of me are fir trees with ivy growing up. I rang my insurance people and asked them about trees falling into my garden they said the tree owners would be responsible for any expense

I never have a problem with domestic trees being cut, people do not realise how big they will get and then they become a pain. My sons neighbours have planted 3 willows on their garden border, still youngish but growing over his garden some people have no idea.

    • Morning Karen, Jane and Tubs. It is always sad to have to remove trees but it does become neccessary sometimes and nature has a great way of filling vacuums. Our neighbours has a huge willow next to our fence and greenhouse and the other side has a giant christmas tree which, if it comes down, will probably fall in our garden and we would have to…[Read more]
