Silly me, had it 125 percent so right hand column did not show

    • If you want to leave it at 125% that’s fine tubs, there are little white chevrons on a green background at the top of the page, click those and the right column will slide out, click again to close it.

Water table in garden and sandy soil etc will make a difference to some,

    • In this changed world of ours I find myself sometimes wishing I was young and able to take advantage of the wonderful wildlife and horticultural jobs they have now and then glad that I won’t be around to see all the long term climate changes forecast .

I think plants in the garden should be allowed to make their roots go down to find water, by watering the garden plants it encourages the roots to stay under the surface and dry out quicker. I never water mine they can look sad in the hot sun but recover overnight. They say we will run out of water in a few years. I water my pots and beans when…[Read more]

Years ago my old Dad an old type countryman used to say the weather always righted itself. if we had a drought one year then we had it wet the next or even during one year. Warmer winters and prolonged spells of weather very heavy rain or very dry, stand out for me. My view is that from the ice age the weather has slowly been getting warmer…[Read more]

Goodmorning to you, raining here and very close, in for thunder storms later, no wonder the weather effects us was 21 for days and only 13 yesterday. No wonder the plants are confused as well.

    • I wouldn’t mind a thunderstorm here, Tubs – I’ve just been out watering everything for another warm cloudless day. Have you noticed any changing trends in your weather over many years? I wonder, because our summer weather up north has been mostly confined to May, and the rest of the season has been grey and overcast. In the space of 15 years…[Read more]

Woodpeckers are one of those birds that take young birds from the nest and once they have found it will go back until they have taken all the babies. An empty metal hanging basket placed over the front of the nest lets the tits in but keeps the woodpeckers far enough away to stop their beaks getting into the hole. I have to do this with my…[Read more]
