Hope you have a better day today honey, but your weather still doesn’t look too clever. :-( Good luck with the furry purries as well.

Aye, I saw it was due to be pretty horrible in England and Wales yesterday. Good luck with the shopping. :-)

The beans are fine and am still using them Al, it’s the supports that have crumpled.

Morning Clickers, it is hissing down here, a horrible day. :-( Need to do the dreaded shopping but will sneak in a swim firstas OH won’t be home till this evening. ;-) Have a good day all. :-)

    • Morning Petal. Dry here so far but yesterday was awful. Shopping here too :bad:

      • Aye, I saw it was due to be pretty horrible in England and Wales yesterday. Good luck with the shopping. :-)

    • Morning Karen, :rose: sunny here but blustery. First day of the season on the Estate. :-)

    • Morning Karen :-) pretty breezy here but just enough rain for the parsnips yesterday – I don’t think it’s forecast today, I’m glad to say. Hope you have a good day – I expect you’ll send OH straight out for a takeaway when he gets back ;-)

    • Good morning Karen – desperate for some dry weather here today to get some work done. The season has definitely changed, we will all soon be sweeping up leaves. and all that brilliant sun this year will become a distant memory. Must get my monstrous courgette plants out today before they invade the house.

Evening Jane, aye, it was far too heavy to manage alone, might have another go on Sat when OH is home – except we are meant to be going to Enniskillen on Sat. Well done on the sowing. Close is fine – microgreens are very fashionable. ;-)

    • Runners weathered the storm with me K, Still have another couple of meals left on them ,And next years seed of course, ;-)

Afters all, lovely dry day though much cooler, so managed to salvage the remaining Peas and Broad Beans and then removed the B.Bs. Struggled with the runners for ages – to no avail, so they will just have to stay in the heap they are in until the beans are big enough to be picked and dried. ;-) Just having a coffee and warm up before getting some…[Read more]

    • Hello Karen :-) pity about your runners – a difficult thing to sort on your own. Sorted out my winter leaves and put them in final pots. All very close together but that’s probably ok for just a taste of lettuce ;-) Have a nice evening :-)

Yes, a fine line indeed, especially in this case honey. As you probably know things are done slightly differently here. People just automatically wade in especially with things like food. I answered Mum’s door the day after she died to find a large casserole and a pot of peeled potatoes on the doorstep, with a note from a neighbour, the end of it…[Read more]

They are delicious in any stew/casserole type thing Anne. Just remember, like any dried bean, they need to be cooked really thoroughly. :good:

I may have to leave the runners in their “heap” Sheila as I think I’m going to do more damage trying to sort them out.

Needed breakfast and lots of caffeine after the swim Cilla, so just off out now. :good:

Thanks Jane, yip, lots of coffee needed, they are a mess. :bad: Enjoy your day. :-)

Oh Cilla, what a dreadful thing to happen. The death of a child must be devastating, so very sorry. I’m sure you couldn’t do a thing, I know I wouldn’t be able to do a thing. It might be good to go to the coffee morning, others will be at a loss too and maybe a few friends/neighbours could get together and help in some small way? Even it it is…[Read more]

    • Thank you Karen. I wrote them a card and gave it to Sue, their neighbour. It is a fine balance between supporting them and intruding at a time like this but I know the village will be devastated as they have been to a lot of village events since they moved here a couple of years ago.

Morning Clickers, all calm here this morning thank goodness, but blimey it is very cool. I’ll happily settle for calm and dry after yesterday though. Lots of folk still without power here and parts of Wales and England due for some torrential rain too, not good. :bad: Peas, beans and runner supports are all in a tangled heat, so so will…[Read more]

    • Morning Karen :-) calm here too but wet – better than that wind though. We had stewed apple with our breakfast today! Hope you can sort out your pea etc supports :good: You’ll definitely need caffeine before starting on tht! Have a good day :-)

    • Absolutely amazed to see that my ghastly fankled bean and bamboo construction is still standing. This fact is totally impressive given that it’s already been on the ground and some of the bamboo canes snapped then. But it’s so tangled up, that I have decided to leave ALL the beans to become dried beans for use in soups and stews. Must say…[Read more]

      • Hallo Sheila :high-five: yes, I was surprised that my beans and sunflowers were still standing tall … yesterday was very gusty. we are still picking to eat them fresh, and they are delicious, but am intrigued by your idea of dried ones for soups. If I have too many for planting next season, [and am saving a few to grow large and long] I will do s…[Read more]
