Good morning Tony, when you say that the spuds [rocket] mature quickly, if I grew them in a bag, when could I be likely to harvest big ones for baking please? [I grew some in a bag last year and hoped to have them for Christmas but they arrived too early and were nevertheless small as well.

Evening clickers, bit of a shock when I opened the curtains this morning, quite a fall of snow.. Finished off the Christmas left overs with home made chips. My cyclamen… -

Frank when the seedlings start to straighten up I pot them up, to lift them out of the compost I use an old table fork. The supports do two things as the onions grow, they keep the onion upright so its an even shape and prevents the leaves falling over and stopping growth

Seed compost warming up, Levingtons F2 S, needs no sieving . Its hard to find at the minute, luckily I had a bag of Mick p in January and just opened it.

A layer of silver sand over the bottom of the propagator I find gives a uniform temperature
, the thermostat does not keep cutting in and out.

Morning everyone, still dark and raining, this seems to be the norm at the minute.No side effects from the Corona vaccine , arms a bit tender if I touch it but muscular injections do that

Good morning all, its just stopped raining, not too bad a weekend, we had a pallet of 60 bags of Clover Professional potting compost delivered for the allotment shop every bag sold., This afternoon I get my first Covid vaccination .Lets hope this is the way towards a less restricted life again

Frank you can get small grow tents that will sit on a garage bench, T5 florescent grow lights come in a range of sizes, they do not give off much heat so can be quite close to the plants. Control on / of with a timer, wilko timers do the job .I start my seeds in a propagator and wait ’till I pot them up before putting under lights, Great for…[Read more]
