This is why I prefer to select my own seed. Damaged tubers, scab and one shrivelled

Have not tried airpots for potatoes, either 20L poly pots, and 40gallon plastic drums cut in half for main crop
I support the haulms on all my container grown spuds, have done this since we had a talk at the gardening club by Sherie Plumb. This lady has really knocked some of the big boys in showing for a six

Morning clickers, a good nights sleep at last, had a water infection that was slow to respond to antibiotics.
Should make the allotment today, had a call from Joan she’s had the flu since Christmas, but hopes to make the allotment today

Good morning Tony. Good news all round for you and Joan then. It seems to have been a bad winter for bugs. Enjoy your lottie time.

    • Morning Tony, glad to hear you are both on the mend, enjoy your allotment. :good:

    • I am scurrying about and keeping my head down to avoid all these bugs that I keep hearing about, Tony – but I guess you are a bit big for that strategy. Really glad your life (and Joan’s) are getting back to normal – that’s all we really want, isn’t it?

Morning Cilla, much the same weather here, with a bitter cold wind. It will be interesting to see how many brave the cold to turn out for rent paying on the allotment. Not many made it last week. To day is the last day for paying as we have to pay the council next week.

    • Morning Tony :-) hope no problems with the rent then! Definitely winter at the mo…

    • Hallo Tony :high-five: Bon courage with the lottie rents :good: :-) :rose:

    • I immediately start wondering what happens to the people who are too lazy or forgetful to pay at the right time. Surely they wouldn’t risk being “turned off”? Needless to say, I know you are not one of them

      • hmmm, Must admit I wondered too. What a lousy time of the year to turn out just to pay a rent!!! :shout: :rose: Mind you, guess they could pay in advance or something? I think peops would be better motivated to pay in Spring when they have real gardening to cope with …. I know, I know, preparation is all, but not everyone is as devoted as some…[Read more]

    • Sounds like you need a “rent paying party” Tony. ;-)

If I tried skipping Shelia it would not be my face I would fall on

Good morning Jane, Cilla, Shelia. Yet more rain, if this keeps up will be able to go swimming in my own backyard soon. Had to smile at the thought of some of us clickers with a skipping rope  I have a piece of rope in my shed just in case my belt busts ;-)

    • Morning Tony :-) you’re ever the practical one  I’d go swimming if it wasn’t an hour on the bus to get there ;-) Not raining here amazingly and the wind has dropped. What does that portend?

      • Wouldn’t be able to skip with the bit of rope you keep for your trousers, Tony – it surely wouldn’t be long enough. Must say I think Jane must be very nimble and brave – I think if I tried solo skipping now, I’d probably trip over the rope and fall flat on my face.

Morning Anne , Shelia, we still have rain, and for once I was pleased. Ordered a new T5 grow light Jan 1st, it arrived without warning 8.30am this morning, when if dry weather I would have been out. Its up and running and I have four spare tubes from the one that died on me,

    • Shall have to get some of the “stuff” out of the spare room soon to erect the propagator and assemble the homemade growhouse. So your new T5 light has also got me thinking of early spring jobs on a wet, grey winter’s day. As such, I think your purchase is absolutely brilliant, Tony.

    • Morning Tony :-) that was fortunate for you :good: HAGD

    • Good day indeed Tony :-) … bravo :good: Hope it continues in positive mode … you delivery has certainly shed light on the day …. ;-) :rose:
