we have a large cordorlyne (cabbage tree not sure if I have spelt it correct) outside the kitchen like it very much but it could do with one or two branches taken off as they are growing out towards the house, anyone any experience of dealing with this type of mature one – had a smaller one at the previous house – the cold in 2009/10 absolutely trashed it, mush and more mush – but hey ho seven shoots appeared on it sometime later that year, so know they are quite tough but don’t want to mess it up with not being sure of what I am doing

According to everything I have read, they can be trimmed back whenever you feel the need. Take the unwanted growth right back to the stem or it may shoot again.
