Hi Sheila it’s been a really dry here for a few weeks now
I’ve had to support the sunflowers from the start otherwise they’d be leaning over by now, and yes can’t wait till they flower now, buds are appearing on some now :good:

Evening everyone, well it turned into Very pleasant day, started off overcast then the sun came out, pottered in the garden this afternoon weeded and tidied up the borders dead headed, feeling very happy with the garden this year too, waiting patiently for my sunflowers to bloom as these ones are very different to the normal regular ones, will…[Read more]

    • Very curious to see these sunflowers of yours, Karen. I have a few small ones which are just starting to flower, but if I grow them again, they will need support early on, because the stems are not straight. We must have had at least an inch of rain overnight, so most actual gardening consisted of getting rid of excess water.

This one I used a selfish stick to lean over to my neighbours garden to take it, did take several attempts, but got there in the end :-)

I quickly count the bees on whatever shrub I’m using, take a picture then submit immediately, the phacelia up the allotment was fun as so many bees to count, so far I’ve counted 51 bees on different days and places and using the button for my location that time :good:

  • Have to admire their will power to carry on, i wish them all the very best :good: :-)

Yes we have to have these checks too :good: but our employers tell us not to get too involved with the people we go to, hard to though as you do build up a friendship with them, so most of us just do these little extras without their knowledge ;-)

Mad I know as its not part of their care plan, also the authorities say that families could accuse us of attempted financial abuse, crazy world we live in :-(

Oops wrongly put I’m afraid, meant that after I delivered the dinners I then will be doing my shopping, mind you I do often get a few bits on occasion and go to the post office for one particular lady who’s family live in Australia to post her cards to them as she is house bound, we’re not really supposed to do these things even as a carer but…[Read more]

    • Of course you do – that’s why you are doing a caring job – cos you care!

      • I’m sure there must be the equivalent clearance in England for people working with vulnerable groups as we have in Scotland – Disclosure Scotland. It checks to ensure you have no criminal record of any sort before you are allowed to work with people who might be exploited.

Morning all, lovely sunny day and garden alive with our feathered friends, witnessed early evening lots of which looked like blue tits flying from the shrubs along side our house to the trees at the back, you could see they were young so do wonder if they had only fledged that day, they also went into which is a very dense tree, quite noisy till…[Read more]

    • Birds are fledging all over the place, so there is lots of mad tweeting going on. I can hardly bear to let the cat out, not because he hunts the wee innocents, but because the parents make such an anxious racket. Quite surprised that you have to do dinner round shopping – had imagined meals were provided by a local school or hospital kitchen -…[Read more]
