Evening all, went up to the plot this afternoon, soil nice and damp still so just watered the tomato plants and cucumbers on the polytunnel, tied up some of the tomato plants and some cosmos and sunflowers that were leaning over, picked some bramley apples that seemed ripe enough as want to harvest as much as I can before that veggie thief gets…[Read more]

Morning all, lovely sunny day today, garden and plot well watered now with the gentle rain we had for a day and night so not too much damage to the plants, bit of securing needed for my sunflowers and tree lupins :good:
Anyway this is a photo of my very tall sunflowers now reaching 10ft exactly

    • Morning Karen, hopefully everyone has had some well needed rain. :good: Must talk to Duncan again about photo problems, I take it you had trouble posting the sunflowers? Enjoy your day. :good:

Morning Karen, I can’t see a photo but 10 feet sounds impressive! One of my sunflowers was in the courgettes and have staked it up several times, along with two of my runner bean supports. Enjoy your day :-)

    • Morning Karen :-) hope to see your sunflower again soon :fingers-crossed: Have a good day :-)

Sorry for late reply folk
Jane we’ve been told unless we have photographic evidence there’s nothing we can do :-(
Sheila even if someone is at a desperate stage in their life it’s sad but it’s still stealing and there’s so many wonderful organisations out there, plus they do a collection of surplus stock up there for local food banks,…[Read more]

    • I hope this doesn’t make you give up your plot, Karen but it would be perfectly understandable. I don’t think I could cope with the dread either. Thinking of you :rose: :rose: :rose:

Afternoon all :notacloudinsight: :notacloudinsight: , so far no rain here in the south for weeks now  , do love the sunny weather but we definitely need some rain here, everything is so scorched looking :dunno:
Went to the plot Saturday ready to pick some blackberries only to find someone had got there first :shout: at first I…[Read more]

    • Oh, Karen, that’s terrible for you and for your lottie friends :bad: It’s so unfair. Have the police been informed? I suppose they wouldn’t be that interested in such a crime but it’s important that they know, I think. My heart goes out to you :rose: :rose:

    • This is awful, but I can’t help wondering if someone is stealing out of desperation. It would be more understandable and forgivable than plain greed, and you wouldn’t feel so bad. I think I’d be camping out in the hope of catching the person. If they are picking fruit, they must need reasonable light, say from 4.30am onwards. So sorry Karen,…[Read more]

      • Crumbs…so glad I don’t have a lottie…I couldn’t cope with the angst :bad: Hope it gets sorted amicably -ish soon Karen…you’d give stuff away if others needed it, but it’s rotten to sneak and steal :bad: :rose:

Never thought I’d ever be wishing for rain too, as seem to spend so much time just watering either the garden or the allotment  just about keeping things going :good:

My onions this year are very small but still tasty, very pleased with my garlic as good size bulbs and plenty of flavour :good:
Must be difficult though for those who do exhibit, hope all goes well with you all with your show veg :-)
