  • Morning all, a lovely sunny dry day ahead, think we had a slight frost too Karen. OH has some concreting to do :good: I’m just having a quiet time before my shift in with the babies. I have my first, second&third defence at the ready as suggested by Cilla
    Hald all :rose: :high-five: :walt:

  • Morning clickers :-) out for a skip in a minute, then planting the winter salad into pots – meant to do it yesterday. The robin’s hungry this morning so I must start putting a bit more oats out for the birds. Hope you all have a nice day :-)

    • Afters Jane, you’ll have your skip well over by now, and possibly your salad potting as well. It’s another corker, just waiting for washing to fish before I escape outside. :good: Enjoy the rest of your day.

    • Hi Karen :-) did a surprisingly good skip, if I say so myself ;-) also finished the salad potting and picked some choi sum to have with the shop lettuce – I know which I preferred! It’s gorgeous, isn’t it, and I’m glad you can get outside :good:

      • Home grown is always tastier. See I’ve been fishing for washing according to my predictive text, sigh. Not long in and yip, another great day, mostly shovelling sh……. poo. ;-) Have a good evening. :rose:

Morning clickers. Glorious sunny day yesterday and we went back to Hambleton Peninsula by Rutland Water for a 5 mile walk followed by a disgustingly large, but delicious, steak and kidney pie, shredded cabbage and sweetcorn, chips and gravy at the GC! I also bought more tête a tête bulbs and two more trays of violas which means I now have 30 t…[Read more]

    • Morning Cilla, a lovely day for you yesterday then. :good: Hard work on the bulb planting but think of the beautiful Spring show you will have. :-) Have a great day. :good:

      • Morning Karen, I hate planting bulbs but the front garden looks quite dismal until the summer flowers come out……got to keep up appearances ;-) Are you swimming this morning? Have a lovely day.

        • Hiya petal, I’m sure your garden never looks dismal! Yip had my usual dip. :good: Now trying to get some washing finished while it’s nice and dry, I’ll be off out shortly. :good:

    • How big is a disgustingly large steak and kidney pie? It all sounds pretty good to me, and I wouldn’t mind feeling really outraged by a good steak pie. I bought two trays of violas yesterday, so I’ll be planting more containers today. I have tulips and alliums which have naturalised and increased in the front garden, and I don’t need any more.

    • Morning Cilla :-) I think after walking 5 miles that steak and kidney pie is ok and I know you will have left the chips ;-) The garden will look lovely in the spring with all those flowers. I hate planting bulbs too but you only have to do it once  Enjoy the coffee :-)

  • Thank you Vashte :-)

  • Very pleased to report that the first meeting with my new friend went well, and I did not feel in anyway that I was being “used” as a taxi service. We spent three hours together during which we both confessed to feeling nervous about the whole thing – and I think we actually like each other. She is ten years older than me, physically fit, and…[Read more]

    • Morning Bean. What a lovely outcome for your befriending…….and the garden interest a definite bonus :good: Will this be a weekly visit? Good to have a whole day free, even on your knees , and the result will be worth it.

    • Morning Sheila and Cilla :-) That’s really good news about your meet with your new friend and a bonus that she’s a gardener! Would she like to help with your path?! I’m really glad it went well – 3 hours is a long time if you weren’t too keen. Enjoy the day!

    • Oh good, am delighted to hear this news Sheila and she’s a gardener, excellent. Have a great “path” day. ;-)

    • Great Sheila :good: :rose:

Morning Clickers, a sharp frost here this morning and it looks like there might be mist in the valley just below us, a bit to dark to tell yet. Due to be another lovely day so looking forward to getting out later. Have a good day all. :-)

    • Morning Karen :-) frost is only good for parsnips! Expecting a nice day here too – possibly a bit of fog to start with but should clear up :fingers-crossed: did a lot of leaf clearing yesterday and was surprised how green the grass was underneath! Hope you get outside – have a lovely day :-)

    • Good morning to both of you – it’s going to be good here too, and I’m free today to work or faff as the mood takes me….probably do a bit of both.

  • Evening clickers after 3 days of almost continuous rain coupled with mild temperatures my season is drawing to a close on a high, cabbage and cauli are excelling their selves

Good evening All from a cool CP…guess what, the sun came out bright and brilliant as we left Montpellier, arriving in Gatport Airwick in rain :bad:
We nevertheless had a lovely week with Daughter and Family, rain ot not. :-) Now back to the grindstone of sorting books and tending baby seedlings
    Nightnight All :rose:

Evening all, a damp start to the day, but it sort of dried up so I sowed 120 crocus in a patch of grass for the bees in the spring :good: this was after Knit&Natter, not a lot of knitting, more unpicking as I was sat next to a lady who didn’t really stop talking, just as well there were no donkeys around
Shift at the nursery tomorrow, so…[Read more]

Evening Lynn, nice job on the crocus. :good: There is obviously a knack in Knitting and nattering at the same time – or in your case knitting and listening. ;-) Enjoy the rest of your evening. :rose:

Afternoon all, and what a cracking afternoon it has been. Full on sun with just the odd cloud up until an hour ago when it clouded over, but it’s back now. Have got two more beds weeded and one mulched with manure – couldn’t face shifting anymore cow muck. :-( Has anyone else noticed odd things happening this year? Found more primroses out and…

Salut tout le monde! from a grey, dry day here … at last!
very impressed with Sheila and Vashte’s achievements in garden and sport :good:
and Mick’s Chelsea with that rock scaling!! Great stuff, not to mention gardening achievements all over he UK! :good:
    HAGD All :clover: :rose:

    • Morning Anne :-) well, I note you’re keeping quiet about what you’re up to today  A soupçon of something interesting? ;-) Have a good day, whatever it is :-)

      • Humph! Just hoping that the plane is on time, and it doesn’t rain anymore, and I don’t forget anything!
You seem a bit down yourself Jane … you ok? :rose:

    • Ooh! Jane – it’s most unusual for Anne to keep quiet about anything. Do you think she is up to no good? May be mastermind planning another heist on Hatton Garden, or perhaps she is quietly practicing her rock-climbing techniques? Have a good day, Anne.

      • Neither thanks Sheila  I like heights only from the safety of behind a strong ‘fence’ or with a good pilot!!
        HAGD yourself Sheila :-) :rose:

  • Glad you liked it Bean…….I love the eerie sound they make. When I lived in Herefordshire I used to go in to the woods on my own, on a misty afternoon and watch and listen to the stags, wonderful :good:

  • What a lovely breath of fresh air, Cilla – and I didn’t have to move a muscle. Got a bit noisy in places though, with all that bolving……

  • Morning clickers :-) beetroot in the oven so that it will be ready for lunch. Will put some more compost out on the beds today. I weigh less this morning and that’s probably for carting compost bags around yesterday afternoon  Hope you all have a good day!

    • Morning Jane, bet those beds look lovely covered in compost and no weeds :-) Did you watch The Informer? Not my cup of tea but OH watched it. Enjoy your day and watch your back.

      • Hi Cilla :-) we caught up with Black Earth Rising and will watch The Informer tonight. I thought you probably wouldn’t watch it ;-) If it stays dry, I’ll collect some leaves – a bit of light relief after heavy bags ;-) Is it still a mystery tour or do you know where you’re off to yet?

    • Do wish I had some beetroot left, but I only have half a bed of enormous leeks which are starting to flower, and some carrots. But did discover that I have very many common daisies which have germinated and are thriving in the back path. The bl**dy path seems to be the most fertile area in the entire garden. I am loath to pull them out however…[Read more]

    • Morning Jane, just, ;-) Not surprised you weigh less with all that weight lifting going on yesterday. Todays leaves will be a pleasant relief. Enjoy your beetroot, must check if I’ve any left worth cooking. :good:

Morning all. Looks set to be dry and OH was talking about going further afield today but no idea where?

  • I just used to set the size and all the photos would be large :-( I’m glad you enjoyed it anyway :-)

  • VegVamp posted an update 1 day, 12 hours ago

Morning Clickers, rather wet at the minute but apparently it is due to improve later. Had some manure left by my farmer neighbour yesterday so that needs shifted onto a couple of beds. :good: Just off for my swim so later all. Enjoy your day. :-)

    • Having a supply of manure from a friendly farmer is one of the things I miss about home. It’s dry here today and forecast to stay that way – would be perfect for muck-spreading if only I had some. Enjoy your wee dook…..

    • Morning Karen, Sheila, Cilla :-) definitely a perfect day, Karen! Enjoy!
