  • Hi everyone. After giving up my allotment around 5 or 6 years ago I was recently contacted by the allotment secretary and reminded that I put my wife’s name down for an allotment about a year before I left and one […]

Hello clickers, I thought I’d look in and see how all my gardening friends are doing these days. I’m still growing bits and pieces in my garden and at the moment it’s mainly Tomato and chili plants in my greenhouse. I’ve been retired for over a year now and enjoying every minute. I hope you’re all well and looking forward to the new season and…[Read more]

Hi Jane, I had a busy day today planting up tubs, bike ride and 1.5 hours washing the car. My wife is cooking dinner so I think it’s time for a glass or two of wine. Hope you both are keeping well and looking forward to Spring. bye for now. Stan.

Evening everyone, it’s been a bit nippy today here in s/e Essex. I bought a few plants to plant up a couple of tubs and to get me in the mood to get outside. I’ve got a bit lazy since giving up my allotment and put on a few pounds, although I’ve been going out walking. I plan to start using my bike from tomorrow to help take off the extra weight.…[Read more]

They get as large as normal Navels in the greengrocers. I wouldn’t put them in the ground as it would be too cold in winter. They will only reach two metres high, any taller and I’ll have to prune them.

Hi Sheila, Thanks. This is how they look now, but I don’t think they’re going to be ripe until the spring. I have lots of blossom on the other tree but only a few oranges at the moment.

I’m trying to add create an album so that I can add photos but I’m getting nowhere as my own “area” seems to have two links missing. The missing links are Forums and Gallery. Any suggestions will be helpful.

Hi Jenn, open a bottle of wine….pour a glass…sit yourself in front of the tv and have a relaxing evening.

  • veggie posted a new activity comment 3 years, 11 months ago

Yes I had about 15 this year but there’s quite a few on them now and also lots of blossom.

Hello Sheila, they do taste nice although I bought some big ones from Morrisons last week and they were delicious too. I seem to go for the exotic lately as I bought a Bird of Paradise plant recently which is also in the greenhouse along with the Frangipanis. I’m hoping the Frangipanis will flower next year. Hope you’re well and look forward to…[Read more]

Helo Cilla, my apologies for not replying to you last evening as I think the mods were working on the site. I enjoyed your blog about scented flowers and plan to refer to it often. Hope you’re keeping well and I plan to be on the site more often…..so look forward to hearing from everyone.

Hi Jane, they really have done a great job. It’s nice to be back on here with gardening friends who are always so welcoming. Your new pond looks very nice and should attract plenty of wildlife and give many hours of interest. I’ve put up a new greenhouse off my garage wall to house my orange trees for the winter.

    • Sounds unbelieveably exotic to have orange trees, Stan, you lucky dog. I love oranges, but am just wondering if (like other fruit) they taste even better fresh from the tree?

    • Gosh, Stan, orange trees sound fab :good: and I thought raspberries were pretty exotic ;-)
Thanks for the nice comments about the pond – I’m chuffed to bits. Now I’d like to see some pics of your orange trees :-)
